Donate Your Money:As a tax-exempt organization all funds donated to Ivorian Hope are tax-deductible. Please make checks payable to Ivorian Hope. We accept checks and money orders and credit card payments. To make a payment online, please utilize our secure on-line payment system. Donate Your Goods:You may donate clothing in good condition to Ivorian Hope for a tax-deduction. Clothing is evaluated based on the condition of the item. Clothing is shipped on a continual basis to rural villages in Ivory Coast, Africa. Clothing that is unable to be shipped will be distributed to local shelters in the Metropolitan area of Maryland. To organize your own clothing drive, please contact us. Vehicle donations are also accepted by Ivorian Hope and will be used for the tax-exempt purposes of the organization. |  |  |  |  |  | Description: We are currently seeking a volunteer for the following position: Media/Communications Specialist Lengthe of Committment: This is an adhoc position meaning that the specialist will be given tasks and assignments as they come along to be completed whenver possible or prior to a specific deadline. The work can be done remotely and requires little to no supervision. The volunteer would be free to set his/her hours as long as the work is completed by deadlines.
Responsibilities: to manage media and technology outlets for the organization; update the company website with vital information regarding program updates, upcoming events, or relevant changes; may assist with database management; to send messages and update profile pages for the company's Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and any other social networking sites; to identify advertising opportunities; to design flyers, posters, brochures, and promotional materials for the organization.
Most if not all meetings with the Media/Communications Specialist will be done via teleconference or webcast so the work can be done remotely from any location. Media/Communications will be given freedom to design and update pages as is necessary. Any necessary software may be purchased if within the organizational budget.

|  |  |  |  |  | Description: Ivorian Hope Charity is currently planning the 2010 Hope Scholarship Competition to be held at Towson University in Towson, MD. The scholarship is intended for high school students interested in international issues and college students pursuing careers in Africa. The competition is open to students in Maryland high schools, colleges/universities. This competition will focus on highlighting student ambitions and promoting the awareness of international issues rather than being a beauty competition. We are looking for volunteers to join the Scholarship Planning Committee.
Responsibilities: volunteers will meet regularly to plan the scholarship competition. Volunteers will need to find donations and prizes for the winners of the competition; plan application guidelines and competition requirements; raise funds for the scholarship; recruit applicants for the scholarship, develop the program for the competition by finding entertainment, food, and collaborating organizations; attend high school/college/university events to promote the scholarship; review scholarship applications; and work relevant to the competition.
Volunteers should be: -patient -organized -service-oriented -committed -good communicators

Development Associate Intern: Ivorian Hope is currently seeking an intern to work with us throughout the summer and possibly into the school year. The start date is flexible. Interns are also invited to travel to Cote d'Ivoire, Africa for three weeks in August. This position is unpaid.
Description: The intern will work with a team of college students and under the board of directors on specific tasks and may be expected to work individually. Responsible for aiding in the planning, advertising, overseeing, and managing of charity programs and fund-raising events for the nonprofit. Interns may handle from three to 12 events per year. The intern may be expected to attend networking events, charity dinners, parties, seminars, and promotional events to increase the network of the organization and speak on behalf of the organization. Fundraising is the central part of the position and the intern may be responsible for the solicitation and tracking of funds, maintaining records, managing budgets for the events. The intern will be responsible for developing fund-raising strategies necessary to achieve the organization’s missions through events, phone solicitations, grant proposals, and other activities strengthening the donor base.
Duties Include: Supporting the board of directors; attending networking events; conducting research on countries, companies and donors; collaborating with other non-profit organizations; researching grant proposals; meeting with prospective and current donors; promoting and advertising for events; documenting events and implementing procedures; recruiting volunteers and staff to assist with fund-raising; overseeing support staff; visiting and selecting venues for events; acting as a liaison with corporations; maintaining donor database; managing deadlines; selecting entertainment; some administrative tasks and other relevant work.
Qualifications: The intern should be someone that is dedicated to making a difference, open-minded, and willing to learn. You will be well guided until you can manage tasks independently. The following is also benefitial: -Willing to work in a team but can work well individually with little to no supervision -Possess good research skills -Quick learner -Can work from home -Possess good socializing and communication skills or is open to obtaining these skills as the intern will interact frequently with people ranging from young students to political figures. -Proactive and can think out of the box -Flexible and easy-going -Organized -Ability to speak french is great but not required -High school graduate -Good sense of Humour!!
