'I Hope For Change' 2009 Walk-a-thon for MicroCredit Project

Purpose:

To empower others into taking action by raising money and awareness about Ivorian Hope and causes that they are interested in. Participants raise money, walk, speak about various world causes, and unite in support of social change for all.

To raise money for our micro-credit project in Ivory Coast to lend money to people in rural areas so that they may fight poverty and become self-sufficient.

Timeline:

Participants raise money from September to February while the Ivorian Hope team plans the event in March.

Fundraising Plan:

Seek local company sponsorships, Towson University student grants, student group sponsorship, food donations, and more for the event in March.

Budget for March 2009 event:   $1,530

UPDATE: We were able to raise $1200 for the micro-credit project!

Community:  Diokoue-Yrouzon, rural village in Ivory Coast     

Objective: Empowering rural villagers to fight poverty and post war related issues through cooperative micro-credit programs.

Our Scholarship

Purpose:

To financially support and empower students who hope to contribute to the advancement of developing countries and postiive change in the world.

Timeline:

Application Process: September- January. Competition in Februrary

Fundraising Plan:

Sell I love Africa t-shirts to raise scholarship money in the amount of $1500 for high school and $1500 for college.

Community:  Maryland High School Seniors and Maryland College/University students

Objective: Supporting youth who want to change the world by providing educational opportunities.

Summer 2009 Hope Service Trip

Purpose:

To travel to Cote d'Ivoire to deliver donated goods to rural villages, investigate the needs of displaced war victims first-hand, increase aid from local government officials and international organizations, establish new programs.

Timeline:

This will be a three week trip starting in mid-August.

Fundraising Plan:

Ivorian Hope is currently seeking public donations and corporate sponsorships for this trip.

Budget:

The approximate cost for the entire trip per volunteer including meals, transportation, air fare, hotel stays, travel insurance, visa fees is $2700.
